Panel on Silent Film Sound at SCMS Conference in Chicago, March 2017

The project on the Austrian Music Film will be represented at the SCMS conference in Chicago, 22-26 March 2017. 

Together with music theory specialist James Buhler (University of Texas) and musicologist and performer Martin Marks (MIT), Claus Tieber and Anna K. Windisch will present a panel entitled “Rethinking Silent Cinema Sound” on March 24 in Session K4.

Guest lecture at University of Milan, Italy, November 28-29, 2016

Project assistant Anna K. Windisch will hold a guest lecture at the Seminar “On (re)connaît la chanson. Pre-existing music in Cinema”, organized by the Department of Cultural Heritage and Environment and the Dottorato in Scienze del Patrimonio Letterario, Artistico e Ambientale, held on November 29, 2016.

The lecture entitled “Making (New) Meaning with (Old) Music in Silent Cinema” will address several issues of the ongoing project and will thus bring interim results to doctoral students at the University of Milan.
